Having mass said for priest relative

Forgive me, I have a feeling this is going to seem like a really stupid question, but in all the decades, I’ve been going to mass, I’ve seen masses are said for deceased priest in our parish or relatives of people who have passed away. Whenever the priest has had a relative pass, whether his mother or brother or sister, I’ve never seen a mass said for them, and I wondered if it was proper to do that. We have a priest in our parish who lost his grandmother who raised him, although she lived in a different city about an hour from here. Do people not have masses said for priests relatives because they can do it themselves when they celebrate mass or offer their own intentions?
Again, forgive me if this sounds stupid, but I’ve never seen it over the years when the priest had relatives pass and I would think that someone at the parish would’ve done it
Thank you

Watching background in repeated episodes

I have seen so many episodes, I tend to look for things I missed in background, goofs or just what others are doing.

I just finished the one with the dance and Laura and Mr Edward's fretting about going. At the end, I usually watched Doc Baker and Miss Beadle because he's a ballroom dancer and so graceful. This time I caught a scene right before it ended where Mr Edward's bumps Nel's and knocks Harriet over and she looks miffed and walks away and Nel's goes after her. Not sure it that was adlibbed.

I really love Harriet when she's not highlighted but there. Another time was when Doc Baker tells them about his engagement and her face of shock with Nel's by the door wasn't the main scene but it fit so well. At the funeral for the woman who wasn't dead, her conversation was real and very animated. I'll try to post an example of first.

Do you ever notice things like that, some are much better at it than others.

Happiness and being Catholic

I love this column and loved Monsignor Hartman and Rabbi Gelman who were together for many years.

I liked this recent column on being happy and plan to follow in retirement and before his advice on giving back and volunteering. I feel a lot of depression is lessened when we socialize and give back, not always perfect, not always good days, but it helps. I understand why now why Fr Greoechel CFR used to tell so many depressed callers to put their 2 feet on the floor, get up, make yourself be part of a bigger picture and take your medicine if needed. Religion and belief don't always make us happy, but we can make others happy and that helps us too.
