Deceptive Cheeky Marketing
I received an email from Cheeky advertising a 20% discount for Memorial Day. I wasn't planning on ordering yet, as I'm still working through my starter bars, but I liked the scents enough that I was willing to put in an early order.
I add 12 bars to my cart. $5.25 a bar, free shipping, and a 20% discount? Seems like a great deal, right? The total should be $63 before the 20% off.
Except that when you go to checkout, the total jumps to $79.80. The price per bar is $6.65.
Surely this must be a mistake. I contact support about the pricing and receive this response from "Jen":
"Thanks so much for flagging this — totally understand why that looks confusing. The pricing is actually applying correctly, but we had to get a little creative with how the discounts were structured for the Memorial Day sale.
Here’s how it works:
Creator codes like MOIST apply a standard 10% discount
Then the Memorial Day sale applies additional per-item discounts across the order
Together, those discounts bring the total savings up to around 20% overall
So while checkout may temporarily show prices closer to the normal per-bar rate before all discounts finish calculating, the final discounted total should still reflect the Memorial Day pricing once everything is applied correctly.
You just have to use any creator code you’d like, including MOIST.
Really appreciate you pointing this out!"
So there is no actual discount. The 20% off is just completely deceptive marketing.
I will not be buying from this company again. How shady, disgraceful, and just plain disappointing.
