What’s the awards dinner like?

For whoever’s been to the awards dinner for JLIEC in London — what was it like? I’m not talking about the costs and expenses but the experience. There was an academic conference, if you attended, what did yall talk abt? And the awards dinner, were the winners called on stage? were there speeches? how was the food? People?

OKAY EVERYBODY PARTICIPATING IN JLIEC LISTEN UP.

So there’s been a LOT of confusion and speculation around the interview so I hope this can clarify some things.

Little background: I submitted my essay really early so as soon as the portal opened in April and then got an email asking for an interview in mid may.

Now many people are confused as to what it could potentially mean (AI, shortlist) but I think it mainly goes out to the people who submitted early and passed an initial threshold or screening (word count, citations etc.)

In the email there was a link to calendly in which I could book a slot but all the slots were filled within an hour so I didn’t get the chance to do the interview and for those who are seeing the interview opening at 30th on their submission portal don’t need to actually interview if they didn’t get the email and the calendly link.

But for those curious, the email stated you are not disadvantaged if you don’t interview and it’s a fifteen minute conference call on google meet or zoom with one of their examiners to get to know your idea better. I’m attaching an image of the interview email I got in mid may.

UPDATE: Okay everyone I think I overreached on one of my claims. It’s possible that the interview button is a separate thing from the email but that still leaves room for a lot of questions like people who did the interview have to do it again or the obvious obstacle of fitting 100k interviews in four days.
