Random fun thought: I realized we could be the only club in the modern age to host a Super Ballon D’or at our stadium. That’s pretty insane. The last winner, Di Stefano, got it two decades after retiring, but reports suggest this time it’s going to be awarded in 2028/29.
reddit.comWe are joint-highest scorers in the league. Yet the disjointed team gives us no confidence.
I have been optimistic through the Redondos, through Tata’s shenanigans and Mascherano’s lineups… yet this is the closest I’ve come to being pessimistic.
✅ Moving on to more positives, I’m liking Plambeck as a depth option for regular season. Sharp short passes, and a good first touch. Hoyos was LOUDLY applauding him today for a certain play that kept possession.
✅ Reguillon back 🙌
✅ Messi fit and continuing to add to the wonderful attacking football this team has played over the years. Can’t take it for granted.
✅ Berte has been contributing last few games.
❌ Literally all that is needed is a manager who can implement functional patterns of play. Today we lost the ball so many times trying to make line-breaking passes. Too much improvisation and no plan.
Rather easy to see what’s wrong. 3 things.
1 - Berte missed 2 biggest chances. Suarez missed 2 chances.
2 - Subs made too late. 2nd and 3rd Orlando goals happened bc can’t have Suarez and Messi on the pitch at the same time, in that specific game state. Miami dealt with the danger just before the 2nd goal, but no one to collect the ball (need someone to drop back like Berte, and that would’ve been Allende if he was on).
3 - Hoyos rest defence tactics makes only Micael and Falcon/Mura remain to deal with Orlando route 1 plays. Allen and holding mids are confused about their roles in relation to the build-up phase. They shouldn’t be.
