phone dropped in sewage, cleaned but unsure of next steps

accidentally dropped phone into a sewer manhole, got it back an hour later with it still on and working (but eventually died I assume to either it constantly being turned on or maybe to internal battery damage? [it was at 30%]), put it in a ziploc bag with rice for a couple of hours until I found out that apparently it is not recommended, wiped down the phone with rubbing alcohol and cleaned out the crevices as much as I could with a toothpick (especially the charging port)

main concern is that the charging port, although looks clean, if I put my nose up to it still smells funky

how else should I clean the inside of the charging port to get rid of the smell and any other sewage gunk? and generally what should I do next? it seems like the phone is still able to function and I am letting the phone air dry overnight

I would like to charge it in the morning and seems possible but I am ultimately unsure
