Federal bill aimed to get rid of student loan interest- any hope?

Anyone else see this federal bill that would get rid of student loan interest on federal loans if passed? Am I dreaming to hope maybe it has a chance?? With all the talk in the past about student loan forgiveness I’ve always wondered why the solution couldn’t be to just eliminate or severely restrict the interest?

Interest rate reduction worth it?

I was thinking of waiting until the last possible minute to switch off SAVE but apparently to qualify for the auto-pay interest rate reduction I have to be enrolled by 9/30. Is this enough incentive to go ahead and apply for a new repayment plan? I owe about $70,000, advice needed!
ETA- I guess the only reason I have thought about holding off until the very last minute is the unrealistic hope and dream that some lawsuit would delay the end of SAVE again but I know it’s unlikely.

Student loan help- Nelnet, still on SAVE plan

I have not received any written correspondence about having to switch from SAVE yet. When I logged on to Nelnet today it shows an “urgent” message on my dashboard that says I have until 10/14/26 to switch to a new plan. There are no messages in my inbox either. Is this considered my formal notification?? Don’t they have to send something in writing? If I hadn’t logged on I would know nothing!
