Hi!! I’m 19 and I’ve dealt with GERD for a long time. I recently got diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia and started xywav after running around for 5 years, which has been working well so far.
Unfortunately, about a month ago, I started getting some intense nerve/muscle pain. My joints would hurt or the pain would transfer from place to place.
I am currently in community college completing my nursing school prerequisites, as I want to be a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
I went to the doctor after the pain was affecting my day to day life and it was hard to sit or sleep without feeling uncomfortable.
My doctor ordered a couple blood tests, and I tested positive for ANA, a 3.2 on SSA antibodies, and 2.1 for SCL-70 (with the ELISA test). My doctor is planning to meet with me in a few days to discuss my results.
For a second, my body pain went away. Then, it came back, and I noticed my feet and hands were losing color (although not in my toes for my feet). I’ve also noticed it’s been a bit more difficult to swallow the past few weeks, as it feels like food kind of wallows in my throat before fully processing down my esophagus. My GERD has also gotten slightly worse, despite being on PPIs and pepcid. I believe my hands are starting to puff up as well.
I don’t know what I’m looking for, exactly; I’m just so distraught. It feels like I just got my life back but it’s about to be taken away again. I got an endoscopy 3 months ago and everything was fine, but is it possible for things to develop quicker? I just want to know what everyone else’s experiences are.
