Thoughts after the conference?

How are you feeling after the labour conference. With criticism from Angela and Shabana’s tone changing from the last conference do we think there is a better chance for us to get transitional arrangements?

I think they might say RQF 5 and below might be on 10 years with discounts while anyone above RQF 6 and above might be on the 5 years. They will probably get rid of requirements for dependents and mandatory earnings of 12500 for everyone. Or will they go even harder?

ILR cohabitation proof

My wife, my child and I will be applying for ILR in April 2027 and I have question about proof of cohabitation. My wife is on SWV and my child and I are on dependent visa. For proof of cohabitation we have the following and if anything is not suitable I would rather try to get it sorted before it is too late

Wife Me
April 2025 Joint council tax bill issued in March 2025 Joint council tax bill issued in March 2025
August 2025 HSBC Bank Statement LLoyds Bank Statement
November 2025 HSBC Credit Card Statement HSBC Credit Card Statement
February 2026 Joint water bill issued in Feb 2026 Joint water bill issued in Feb 2026
June 2026 LLoyds Bank Statement HSBC Bank Statement
October 2026 HSBC Credit Card Statement HSBC Credit Card Statement
March 2027 Joint council tax bill issued in March 2027 Joint council tax bill issued in March 2027

Is this sufficient proof between the 2 of us?

For my child, we plan to get a letter from the school and a medical record list from the GP that will have his name and house address

ILR Potential Changes

while I understand that the government can do what it wants with regards to the ILR qualifications, but what I am trying to understand is will the government usually stick to what they wanted to consult in the consultation? as in keep the 5 year reduction for earning more than 50k or can they implement something that was not consulted at all?

English requirement for ILR

Hi All,

I will be applying for ILR next April and thought I will get my Ecctis verification done earlier since I didn't know if my uni will respond in time. My degree was Masters from USA.

Anyways, the verification was complete and this was the outcome

Qualification comparison: Master's

English level: Majority English Speaking Country - No english level required

Outcome: Positive

Is a Master's degree from USA considered at what level for English requirement? B1, B2 or C1?

Ecctis certification process (8 Working Days)

Hi All,

Just wanted to share my Ecctis verification process. My degree is from a US university.

Jun 8, 2026: Applied and In queue for review

June 16, 2026: Reviewed and eligible for service. Passed to verification team

Jun 18, 2026: Ecctis process concluded and positive outcome

From my understanding, Ecctis uses National Student Clearing House for majority of US degrees. If your uni signed up with NSCH, then the verification is seamless. I was thinking of sending transcripts via parchment to qls.verifications@ecctis.com as indicated by others, but held off.

Good luck to others.

English Language Test - Applying for ILR April 2027

Hi All,

The English language requirement is changing to B2 starting in March 2027 (as per what I read). Currently the B1 level is only Speaking and Reading. Should I plan to take the B2 level test (Speaking, Reading, Writing and Listening) or will there be only a B2 Speaking and Listening test for settlement?

Bumper scrape - me and other driver didn't exchange any info and left...

I was driving in a road that had parking on both sides. I tried to squeeze to the side to let the car coming in the opposite side pass me. As the car was passing me it scraped my bumper. Me and the other driver got out of our cars, and he blamed me and I blamed him and we both left without sharing any info. Not sure if this was the right thing to do, but I panicked since this was the first time any one scraped my car..

Not sure if I should have done anything different. I don't think I will be filing any insurance claim for this. will try to buff off the scratch...

I do have a front dashcam video of me pulling to the side and waiting...

Withdrawal of application from BLS Manchester spain

I need to urgently withdraw my application from the Spain consulate in Manchester. It has been a month and no progress on my application.

Can people share their experience in getting the application withdrawn and getting the passport back? How long does it take to get the passport back after withdrawal?
