OR to Cath Lab

Moving from a position in orthopedics to the cardiovascular space. How different is the “vibe” in the room and the attitude of the surgeons in the cath lab vs the OR? In most ortho rooms I go in, there’s loud music and people chat throughout the procedure but from what I’m being told of going to the cath lab, it’s a much more serious and toned down vibe. How different is it really?

Surgical Onsite Specialist Medtronic

Got an interview coming up with Medtronic as a surgical onsite specialist in their gyn division. I’m a current Arthrex rep of about 2 years. Anyone have experience as an onsite specialist for Medtronic? Wondering what the day to day is really like.

It seems like a step backwards going from a full sales rep to an onsite or clinical specialist position, but I know I would prefer a more clinical focused role. The pay is exactly the same as what I’m making at Arthrex plus better benefits and a company car.

I know Medtronic is a great company to work for, long term my goal would to be able to move into the cardiac space as a clinical specialist within Medtronic.

A few questions:

What does day to day look like for an onsite specialist?

Once you’ve been there a few years, how feasible is it to move divisions within Medtronic?

What does the interview process for this kind of position look like?

Thanks!

Summer Tank Temps

I live in an apartment that has no ac in it, lately it’s been in the 80s and 90s. If it’s more than 80 degrees in the enclosure, I haven’t been turning on the heat lamp, I’m just worried it’ll be too hot. Temp throughout the day in the enclosure will top out at about 90 with no lamp. It only stays this hot for about 3 weeks out of the year where I live. Should I be turning on the heat lamp even when it’s this hot out?
