Is it hard to find a part-time job in Odense without speaking Danish? (SDU student)

Hi everyone,

I’m an Italian student and I recently got accepted for a Master’s at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense. I’m currently trying to understand how realistic life there would be as an international student.

One of my biggest concerns is finding a part-time job in order to support myself and eventually qualify for SU. I speak fluent English but I do not speak Danish (I also speak fluently italian, spanish and arabic)

I’ve read many mixed opinions online: some people say it’s manageable, while others say it’s extremely difficult outside Copenhagen, especially in Odense or Aalborg.

So I wanted to ask:

  • How difficult is it really to find a student job in Odense without Danish?
  • Are there enough opportunities for international students?
  • How long did it take you to find a job?
  • Is getting SU realistic for non-Danish speaking students?

I’d especially love to hear from international students currently studying at SDU or people who recently graduated.

Thank you so much :)
