Wharfedale Linton vs Super Linton vs KLH Model Five
Currently trying to decide between the Wharfedale Linton, Super Linton, and KLH Model Five and wanted opinions from people who’ve actually heard/owned them.
For context, I’m based in the UK in Yorkshire and currently running:
- Yamaha A-S501 (will upgrade after speakers)
- Rega Planar 3 with Exact cartridge + Rega Fono MM
- WiiM Pro streamer
Room is medium sized (22m squared) and I listen to a mix of:
- rock / indie
- hip hop
- R&B
- electronic
- some acoustic stuff
What I’m looking for:
- full and engaging sound
- good bass presence without becoming muddy
- non-fatiguing treble
- detailed woah listening factor
I currently own Klipsch RP-600M II bookshelves, and while I enjoy the energy and dynamics, certain guitars/upper mids can get a bit harsh over long sessions, so I’m looking for something more refined while still being exciting and emotional to listen to.
My budget can technically afford any of the 3, but the Super Lintons or KLH Model 5 would mean saving longer or finding them used, so I’m trying to work out whether they’re genuinely worth stretching for over the standard Lintons. Ideally I'd like to spend a max of 1600 but if it's worth it I'll stretch for the others!
I’ve got a demo booked this week for the lintons, but I’d really appreciate opinions from people who’ve compared them to the supers or the KLH to know if it's worth saving up for those long term. I love their mid-century modern look and intend to use the speakers as a furniture piece as well.
Which would you choose and why?
