Solo Trip to Gokarna (Mid-Aug) – Best Hostels for a 2–3 Week Stay? (Vegetarian)

Hey everyone,

I'm a 27M travelling solo to Gokarna around mid-August and planning to stay for 2–3 weeks.

I'm looking for a peaceful trip rather than a party vacation. My days will mostly be spent exploring beaches, going for long walks, swimming (if weather permits), working remotely for a few hours, and relaxing.

I'm an eggetarian, so good vegetarian food is quite important to me.

A few questions:

  • Which area is best to stay in for a few weeks? Kudle Beach, Om Beach, Main Beach, or somewhere else?
  • Which hostels have a friendly, relaxed crowd and are suitable for longer stays?
  • Are vegetarian and eggetarian food options easily available nearby?
  • Any cafés or local restaurants you'd recommend for someone who eats eggs but otherwise prefers vegetarian food?

Would appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences. Thanks!

Gokarna or South Goa for a 3–4 Week Slow Travel Trip? 27M

Hey everyone,

I'm a 27M planning a solo trip from 23rd August to around mid-September, and I'm confused between Gokarna and South Goa.

I'm not looking for a party destination. My ideal trip is pretty simple:

  • Peaceful beaches
  • Long walks
  • Swimming
  • A few drinks in the evening
  • Meeting like-minded travellers occasionally
  • Working remotely for a few hours on weekdays

I don't mind staying in hostels if they have a relaxed, social vibe rather than a party crowd. Budget isn't a major concern—I'm more interested in the overall experience.

For those who've been to both:

  • Which would you choose for a 3–4 week or longer stay?
  • Which has a better balance of peace and meeting new people?
  • Any hostel, homestay, or co-living recommendations?

Would love to hear your experiences. Thanks!
