SURELY, Haseeb ain't forgotten?

So as we know that Saim and Fakhar are injured(press X to doubt) and we are probably gonna get the duo of intent Sadaqat who goes 100(50) or 6(2) and Sahibzada "I eat alot of dots but I score 4 and sixes" Farhan opening but this made me suddenly remember Haseebullah.

Don't get me wrong, Haseebullah had absolutely two stinkers when it comes to ODIs scoring two ducks and one duck being 0(10) but then you must remember that 2nd match came after like one year(he debuted in the 2024 Zim series). Yes he hasn't had a great outing at the President trophy(list A version) but he should atleast be in the squad.

I know the squad hasn't been announced yet but it baffles me how he has more games under his belt in t20is, a format where he clearly sucks compared to ODIs which is clearly his best format.

Aqib Javed, please come up with a good excuse this time for dropping this young and talented lad since that Lanka series instead of that bullshit counter reply used with KG. Oh and do I have to mention Haseeb is a WK so why not groom him as a WK opening batsman?

Kamran Ghulam is overrated and he doesn't deserve the hype

  • He has only 4941 runs in FC cricket. How dare he not have as many runs as Jack Hobbs? Look at that great guys stats. Over 60 000 runs!

  • He averages just 45. What a pleb. How about grinding it even further and averaging in the 90s like this random person named Don Bradman?

  • He doesn't look elegant. What's the point of having him when you have Imam putting up the most aesthetic, most pleasing(with lots of edges) 30s compared to this guy making an ugly hundred in his test debut?

  • He is wayy too aggressive. Imagine smashing a 60 of 30 balls instead of going into REAL Talat mode and get out for a 4(13) while batting lower down the order.

  • He has scored 0 runs at New York. I mean come on, that's the REAL test.

  • He hasn't scored a run since that WINDIES test series! What a fraud, absolute farce ngl!

  • Why is he not taking up the bowling role? He averages 16 in ODI cricket. It's obvious he is a failed bat!

Thank you for reading my BEST and SINCERE opinion.

He has that cool ass bandana, doesn't uses his feet while playing pace(or it could be only limited to t20s), pretty timing, no slogging, scores quickly and do I have to mention t20s ain't even his best format? He is absolute quality this lad! His bro Arafat is no stranger either! Imagine how proud their father must be of their talented and hard-working sons! He wants to play red ball cricket too. Oh and when he started playing cricket he wanted to be a spinner.

But I feel like some of you are being reactionary. Literally the amount of times people have been suggesting here that Sameer should be in the t20i side is absurd. Don't get me wrong, I consider him to be the best batting talent in our country but to say he should be in the side is absurd.

Let the guy play domestics, let him develop a hitting game, let him pummel the bowlers for fun in domestic cricket. He is already good against spin but he will learn more by playing FC cricket.

Of course some of y'all actually want him to grind in domestics and I agree and it's not like PCB listens to r/PakCricket.

Rn I just wanna wait for the next presidents trophy(tho it's better if he starts with QEA trophy since the batting tracks there are friendly and it will help him learn how to play long innings but maybe cuz he doesn't have a contract for QEA team rn).

I am actually fine if you suggest he should travel with the team to learn more from the seniors but right now even Sameer wants to play domestic cricket.

Sameer is the best batting talent in the country(my opinion) without a huge ego and is pretty mature so I hope he shines. He has also been performing in fragile batting line ups(u-19 and IU) so the guy shows he can play even if there is pressure but rn domestic cricket is the way. :)

I have never watched this guy play(except for highlights but that's a different matter) but when you hear his name, the first thing that comes to his mind is that elegance and that big, big knock against India. (194 for anybody wondering but it's pretty iconic, isn't it?).

Of course without a doubt he is Pakistan's greatest opener with a test average of 45 and a ODI average of nearly 40 but there is more to that.

Guy has 7 test tons away, sure that's isn't alot but for comparison he has 4 tons at home. His SENA record barring SA(which he still manage to score a ton anyway in a spicy pitch, in the 3rd innings against a fiery bowling attack with no support from the other end. One of the reasons why Pakistan won a test in SA and also a reminder Pak has only won two tests in SA). England was also challenging for openers yet he averaged 42 there. He averages 59 against Australia and 47 in Australia(Small sample size but you still have to do well for the chances you have been given.

About ODIs so did Anwar have an elite WC record averaging over 50. Do I have to mention the guy has three WC tons and 2 CT tons? (Yes, the champions trophy isn't that important but still). Also funnily enough majority of his matches have come in neutral venues but because of him playing UAE, tournaments and those Toronto series. He also has the most ODI tons by a Pakistani batsman sharing the record with Babar.

It's a shame Pakistan didn't play many tests cuz he is easily a 100+ test player.

It sounds stupid saying this but he underachieved. Literally I know 45 average is fucking good but the guy averaged 60 against McGrath. 60 is insane.

Even then the biggest thing about him is that we are still yet to find an opener as good as him barring Fakhar in ODIs but in test cricket it will be tough to replace Anwar.

What a legend.
