I put my beloved teapot back to use after a Kintsugi repair :)

After a carefull repair, done over the past few month, the repaired lid was put back to use this monrning on this teapot
It’s a teapots that I really love. It was gifted to me by my parents for my 41th birthday…and sadly I broke the lid a few months after…

Always a bummer…but it triggered me to go back to Kintsugi practice…which I did not really practice for the past few years
So this morning…it’s with great joy that I brewed my Japanese tea from Fukujuen in it :)

Starting a project…another one :D

Yesterday, I started the project I envisioned while buying a broken Mano Shunen teapot on Yahoo Auctions.
It arrived last Tuesday, and upon a carefull inspection, sadly the extent of the damages was way worse than what I anticipated.
The cracks were going way longer than what pictures let see.
And two cracks were running through the sculptured part of the teapot
So I made the decision…to make it worse and break it in its individual parts, as I feared to not be able to properly locate all cracks and fill them with Urushi.

So the project started as a teapot in 7 different pieces.
I filed the rim of each breaks carefully to have really thin Urushi lines in the end.

I also extensively taped the pot to protect the delicate parts
So here is the first part…I’ll have the answer if it was successful in 10 days :)

Drinking tea at work…what tea wares

My simplest tea set that I will use at work from now on.
A simple Yakishime flower Hohin by Yutaka, and a nice covered Yunomi by Masuki Murata :)

What are your work tea sets?

First brew with my Gisui Kyusu…Sencha Haru from Jugetsudo

Since a received new Kyusu from Japan yesterday…I had to have a first brew in it.
Since I bought this pack of Sencha at the Jugetsudo Shop in St Germain neighborhood, I made the call to open it.

6 brews in total…a really nice tea, balanced full of flavors and with a strong Umami until the 4th brew

Teapots, Cups, tea caddies…the result of my latest Japan haul

I’m a compulsive buyer…especially when it’s about Japanese ceramics and tea supplies
I don’t know why, but I’m in love with the works made there…
So I’ve been buying on Japanese auction and second hand plateforms for a year now…and the latest batch arrived this morning

The is works from Mano Shunen, Masuki Murata, Kaikado, Konishi Yohei, and other artists that I’ve not yet identified.

To be honest, I thinks it’s the first time I’m really impressed by some teapots.

Next batch should arrive at the end of August…with far less ceramics, but a lot of tea :D

Almost finished project

I’m almost finished on this project.
I can’t decide myself if I go all the way with gold of if I leave it this way.
If I go to the gold route, I’ll try Maru fun for the first time…but I need to source gold for that first :)

Future Kintsugi project.

So...here is what will be my biggest(not by its size, but by the amount of work to do) project to come.

I just won the auction on Yahoo Auctions for this gorgeous Mano Shunen (間野舜園) teapot.

Kintsugi repairs in progress :)

Here is a follow up of some of the Kintsugi projects I’m working on at the moment
All of them are totally personal.

The first one is the lid of a beloved teapot that I broke a few months ago(you can find the initial posts here about it)
In the end…the gluing worked at the second time. Sometime using mugi urushi is hard :D

And the second one is an old plate that was already broken when I bought it for .50€ at a second hand market.
