Looking for advice — Data Engineering switch as a fresher / 1 YOE 🚀

Hey everyone

I’m currently working at an MNC, but the work I’m doing right now isn’t really aligned with proper Data Engineering. I’m trying to make a switch into a more relevant Data Engineering role.

I have around 1 year of experience, and my experience/tech stack includes Python, SQL, ETL/ELT, Databricks, PySpark, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Data Modeling, Power BI, RAG pipelines, and databases.

📄 This is my masked/anonymized resume, so please don’t judge the formatting or the masked information 😅. I’ve hidden my name, company names, contact details, and education details for privacy. The actual resume contains the original information.

My biggest bottleneck right now is getting opportunities/interviews. I’m applying consistently, but I’m still not getting the kind of Data Engineering opportunities I’m looking for.

I’d really appreciate some honest feedback:

  • Does my resume look suitable for Data Engineer / Junior Data Engineer roles?
  • Is there anything that stands out as a red flag?
  • Am I targeting the right roles considering I’m between fresher and ~1 YOE?
  • What could be the reason I’m not getting interview opportunities despite applying?
  • Should I change how I’m presenting my current experience?
  • Are there any skills/tools I should prioritize?
  • I’m also considering buying Naukri Pro. Is it actually worth it for someone in my situation, or is the regular Naukri account enough?
  • For people who successfully moved into Data Engineering with 0–2 YOE, what worked for you?

I’m mainly looking for advice on how to get past the application stage and start getting interviews.

Would really appreciate brutally honest feedback from recruiters, hiring managers, and Data Engineers who have recently gone through a similar transition.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for a Data Engineering switch — referrals/advice appreciated

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working as an Executive – Data Engineer at an MNC, but my current responsibilities aren’t really aligned with the Data Engineering role I want to grow into.
I have hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Databricks, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, ETL/ELT, PySpark, data modeling and data pipelines.

I’ve previously worked on data pipelines, Python ETL, Databricks, SQL, dimensional modeling and query optimization.

I’m also preparing for DP-700 to strengthen my Fabric/Data Engineering skills.

I’m now looking for a role where I can actually work as a Data Engineer and grow in the right direction.

If anyone is hiring or can refer me to a Data Engineer / Azure Data Engineer / Fabric Data Engineer role, I’d really appreciate it.
Also open to honest feedback on my profile and what I should improve.
Looking for the right opportunity, not just another job.
