Pregnancy related sick leave HSE staff?

Hi all,

I can’t quite get my head around this so I hope someone can explain this to me.
I’m a HSE staff in a hospital and I’m getting signed off by my consultant in the hospital on Pregnancy related sick leave for 9 weeks until I’m due to go on maternity leave.

I’ve contacted HR regarding this and I was told

"Please discuss with manager and continue to provide medical certificate for the period of absence. Additionally please make sure you claim this from social welfare department as payroll will deduct sick leave hours. To note, sick leave is deducted a month in arrears, in your case if you start sick leave in July, these hrs will be deducted in August payroll"

Does anyone know how often I’ve to provide the certs and do I go to my gp regarding that?
Also how do I claim this from social welfare? As i thought that the HSE sick pay comes directly as regular pay?

Appreciate the advice in advance

Getting signed off on sick leave

Hi all,

I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant and working in HSE. My job is quite stressful and on my feet a lot and I’m starting to struggle a good bit and still struggling with HG. Im seeing my consultant at 27 weeks, would you say it’s reasonable to ask her to sign me off with 2 weeks notice” so I’d be leaving at 29 weeks ? Or do I have to be going to my gp regarding that? My gp is the type of person that thinks pregnancy is easy and I shouldn’t be struggling so I’m worried she wouldn’t sign me off

Frida mom postpartum underwear

Hi all,

I’m slowly starting to look at things for the hospital bag and I’ve seen people recommending the Frida mom ones over all the other ones. I see in boots they have the the high waisted briefs or the boy short ones. Which ones would youse recommend?

Thank you!

Maternity leave

Hi all,

I’m working in HSE and currently trying to calculate my maternity leave and all other entitlements so I can calculate my return date. I am due 29/09
Am I correct that I’m entitled to:
Payed maternity leave 26 weeks
Unpaid 16 weeks
Public bank holidays
Then holidays 10 days from 2026 which get carried over into 2027 so full entitlement is 33 days.
Parents leave 9 weeks.
I don’t know if it’s my pregnancy brain but I can’t seem to be able to calculate my return date, is there anything that I’m missing here? Could someone help please?

Thank you!
