Additive Free Options

Very new to Cognac. I have had Remy 1842 and Ferrand 1840. Both used mostly for mixing with the occasional sipping. I am interested in having a nice bottle on hand so I did some research. I started to read about additives in cognac and it sounds like, as with tequila, lots of addictive are used to appeal to an American palate. Is the same deal with cognac or is it not as extreme?

Are there additive free options that are widely available in the US? Looking for $100 to $200 range.

El Presidente Pairs Nicely

For those of you looking for cocktail pairings to go with your favorite cigars, I have a suggestion.

Tonight I made an El Presidente and it paired quite nicely with my AF Hemingway Short Story.

1.5oz Appleton Signature or other lightly aged rum
0.75oz Dry Vermouth
0.5oz Dry Curacao
0.5tsp Grenadine

Rum to Pair with Fuente Hemingway Cigars

I am neither a rum nor a cigar aficionado. I know enough to know what I like but I fall short on all of the nuances.

I very much enjoy the Arturo Fuente Hemingway line of cigars, particularly the Short Stories. Does anyone have a nice rum that you would recommend to enjoy with, or even enhance, my smoke? I just finished a bottle of Doorly’s 14yr. It was fine but didn’t knock my socks off.
