Our product manager needs to be stopped

This Week at VSDINSIDE:

PM: “Can we add just one more feature?”

Engineer: “You said that 17 features ago.”

PM: “What about RGB that reacts to CPU temperature?”

Engineer: “Please stop talking.”

Your turn: If you were the product manager for a day, what ridiculous feature would you make the engineers build?

Bad ideas only.

Been thinking about what we should improve next for StreamDock.

If you use something like this in your daily setup, what’s one feature you’d actually want us to add or improve?

Could be plugins, automation, UI, device switching, anything really.

Physical F-row or a small touchscreen control panel — which makes more sense?

I’ve been thinking about keyboard layouts recently, especially the F-row area.

For a lot of users, F1–F12 are useful, but they’re not used equally often by everyone. Some people rely on them every day, while others mostly use them through shortcuts or software-specific functions.

So here’s the idea:

What if the F-row area became a small touch display / control panel instead?

It could still provide F1–F12 access when needed, but also switch to other layouts depending on what you’re doing, such as:

  • Media controls
  • App shortcuts
  • Macro buttons
  • System info
  • Timer / clock
  • Custom icons
  • Software-specific controls

For example, when working, it could show productivity shortcuts.
When gaming, it could show game-related actions.
When editing, it could show timeline or tool controls.

But I also understand the downside: physical keys are faster, easier to feel, and don’t require looking down.

So I’m curious:

Would a touchscreen F-row actually be useful to you, or would you rather keep real physical keys?

A. I’d try a touchscreen F-row
B. I prefer physical F keys
C. I’d like both if the layout is done well
D. I don’t really use the F-row either way

What would make this kind of design practical instead of just a gimmick?

Week Topic: If we were to develop a purely touch-based console, what would your opinion be?

Curious about it? Or uninterested—or do you just see it as a "giant phone"?

Weekly topic | What’s one feature you didn’t think you’d use, but now use all the time?

Could be a shortcut, widget, knob, macro, or even a small desk setup habit.

Sometimes the most useful features are the ones you don’t notice until they become part of your daily routine.

How many hours are you actually at your desk each day?

Not how many hours you're supposed to work.

Not how many hours your calendar says you're productive.

How many hours are you physically sitting at your desk on an average day?

I started paying attention recently and realized I'm probably there way more than I thought.

Work, gaming, YouTube, random browsing, "just checking one thing"... it all adds up.

I'm curious where everyone else lands.

Are you a 3–4 hour person, or are you basically living at your desk?

Which feature of StreamDock do you think is most important to you?

For me it’s probably the instant mute button.
Didn’t think I’d use it that much when I first set it up… now I hit it like 50 times a day

Funny how the smallest shortcuts end up becoming muscle memory.

What’s that one button/action for you guys?
