Can’t do anything right at new job

I have 5 months experience, and just got hired at a hospital. I’m night shift. The lead tech continues to nit pick at all of my scans, even down to how I push the machine. It’s like I can’t do anything right in her eyes but to the other techs, they say my scans are good. The radiologists haven’t complained either.

I’m so frustrated and this is only week 3 and I’m considering quitting. when I ask her if I’m missing pathology or imaging stuff wrong she says no but says it should be done her way, and that the radiologist might not like my images. It’s weird. I think she’s been a tech for 27 years, so of course my technique won’t be the same as hers.

And then when I look at everyone else’s scans, I actually give more detail than them! I really don’t want to quit because it’s a great hospital with great pay but I can’t take this nit picking. They knew I was a new grad in my interview and still hired me to work nights alone. So if SHE doesn’t like my scanning shouldn’t she have someone else on the shift with me? None of this is making sense.

I think I’ll give it another 2 weeks and I resign, before she can beat me to it since she wants me to scan like her.

Also, why do leads get so much say so? What’s the point of having a manager and supervisor if the lead dictates who works what shift, PTO request have to go thru her, etc

Scared of night shift

So I finally got a job in an over saturated city and all they had to offer was 5 night shifts, so I had no choice. I’m so scared bc I’m still considered a new tech (I’ll be the only one there at night) and also, the physical and mental health parts of working night shifts. Considering it’s 5, it seems easy to loose yourself. I’m scared of the weight and hormone changes, not having a life bc I’m sleeping all day, and never being able to recover bc it’s 5 nights!

For night shifters , how do you maintain being healthy? Whats some advice you can give me as far as scanning and making sure I’m not missing anything ? I worked at a hospital for 5 months w a busy ER and everybody including the rads liked me , I’ve never really missed pathology but I also had help when I was unsure about something.

Also, unfortunately they don’t do 3 12s which is insane to me considering it’s a hospital but I guess the techs who work days have families and refuse 12s and 10s. I feel like that would be much better than 5 8s
