But it immediately made sense when I got to ride it the first time. I was worried about my cadence getting messed up by the gear steps but you get used to it fairly quickly. That probably would be a slight problem if you're riding in a peloton holding people's wheels, but 90% of my riding doesn't require that. Fair trade off for the overall simplicity of the system. I'm sold!

Also, coming from another climbing bike (BMC SLR01), the R5 is inexplicably much snappier and quick. Amazing bike!
