Has anyone tried out the smaller foil kites for big air ?
Specifically the 7M Flysurfer Sonic 5?
I tried the 15M Sonic 5 and the hang time was unbelievable, but it was very slow. The 7M looks interesting but I haven’t seen anyone riding it.

Hey everyone, I recently sold my entire North quiver and wanted to switch to something else. I’ve narrowed it down between these two kites… I wanted to get the vortex but i don’t have $3000 to spend on a kite. I’ve started doing heli and kite loops with a focus on big air. My north reach’s were great kites but once I tried my friend’s vortex I was hooked…
The only thing i’m worried about with Harlem is the quality, because ozone should last forever… and the resale if I want to sell them after a year. Anyone have experience with either kite?
Recently i’ve upped my price to 20 dollars from 11, and had 7 new trials this week. In the past I had about a 90% close rate over 30 students…. Now since I raised my price no one is subscribing after the trial lesson. It’s werid that the high price is making students not subscribe? And each trial is custom tailored to that students goals… anyone had this issue before?
I just spent 4 great weeks in Salina Cruz, Mexico, and figured I would share some information about the area. The region has some of the strongest winds in the world, blowing year-round but especially during the winter months.
Ensenada de la Ventosa — Strong wind but very gusty. On a lower wind day, it was roughly 15 knots steady with gusts around 25 knots. The lagoon is very shallow and somewhat polluted due to the nearby refinery. There is plenty of space to set up your kite.
Jalapa del Marqués — A beautiful freshwater lake/reservoir with decent wind, around 15–22 knots even on a lower wind day. There is lots of space to set up, but the town itself was very quiet, and it’s about 1.5 hours from Salina Cruz.
San Mateo del Mar — An indigenous town with a huge lagoon and a great kitesurfing spot. The wind was extremely gusty, ranging from around 18–30 knots. The main issue is that, because it is an indigenous community, I wouldn’t recommend going unless you know someone who lives there or have a local connection. I met a friend at a taco stand in downtown Salina Cruz who invited me there.
Playa Brasil — This was the best spot for kiting. A huge beach with side-shore wind. The waves were absolutely massive, so it can be quite dangerous depending on conditions. The wind felt around 18 knots the day I went, with gusts around 25 knots. The downside is that there isn’t much around — the area felt very isolated and was difficult to reach.
Las Escolleras — A huge salt mine lagoon with flat water and strong wind. This actually felt like the most consistent and powerful spot. The downside is that the water was unbelievably salty, and the entire lagoon is only around 1–2 meters deep.
The truth is, I was there during the low wind season, and it was still nuking. The locals told me that when winter arrives and the nortes come through, you can barely walk on the beach. We’re talking 30–50 knots with strong gusts.
Overall, the experience was amazing. The city is very rustic, authentic, and the people were extremely friendly. Would I recommend it to someone specifically traveling there for kitesurfing? Probably not. The spots are interesting, but the wind was the gustiest I’ve ever experienced, and it takes around 4 hours to get there from the nearest airport.
You can go to Progreso and have a much easier experience with better infrastructure, more restaurants, and a more developed kite scene. Cheers 🤙
Hello everyone, I made the mistake of starting low ($9) and amassed a total of 25 students, then I raised my price to $11 dollars and went up to 35 students, and now at $15 with 40 students. The thing I’m wondering is should I cut the students paying 9$? I understand it’s unethical, but my calendar is completely full, and the 9 dollar students are booking sometimes 3 lessons a day so the higher paying have no time slots. I’ve been on the platform for almost 2 months.
Hola todos, I wanted to make a post to encourage others to continue their journey.
I made a post here 6 months ago about starting my spanish journey and how I was struggling even after taking in-person classes in Mexico. Well 6 months later I would say that i’m much more comfortable in the language. I spent most my time living in Mexico and some time in Colombia all while trying my best to start conversations with locals everywhere I went. I can have 1-2 hour long conversations comfortably (with some errors)
I have been using dreaming spanish everyday along with online lessons, and I have tracked every lesson + CI. As of today i’m at 323hrs total.
The biggest problem is that in smaller neighbourhoods I still need to ask people to slow down when talking, but in bigger cities it’s much clearer.
So far as of today I will be at 8 months learning the language, and I’ll be doing another update after 1 year 🤙
