Hello! New to reddit but I am in the process of building a data analytics platform for competitive/high level amateur and semi pro soccer in the U.S. (see link in description).
The tool currently scrapes and contextualizes the full history of UPSL (4th tier of U.S. soccer) scores and fixtures to derive upcoming match outcome predictions, conference season projections and an elo based rating system of all teams in the league.
It also has an additional layer of manually tagged event data from the match footage of the UPSL team I play on with xG metrics based on a simple model and team/player dashboards with shot and pass maps.
The ultimate goal would be to scale the advanced xG based metrics across a large portion of the league (or other similar level semi pro league) to produce an easily filterable database for pro team (USL and MLS) to screen for undervalued talent.
Curious to hear if anyone has tried anything similar and if so, what went right? Wrong? Would love to hear any feedback as it relates to the platform, viability of the idea and if there are additional angles I am missing.
