Buspar insomnia: has anyone switched from "5mg × 3" to "10mg × 2" (earlier second dose) and slept better?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been taking Buson (buspirone) 5 mg three times a day for several months.
My schedule has been:
* 11:00 AM – 5 mg
* 5:00 PM – 5 mg
* 11:00 PM – 5 mg
Initially it seemed to help my anxiety, but over time I’ve started wondering if the 11 PM dose is actually making it harder for me to fall asleep.
My psychiatrist said we can experiment with the dosing schedule. One option he suggested was switching to 10 mg twice a day instead of 5 mg three times a day.
I’m thinking about trying:
* 9:00 AM – 10 mg
* 5:00 PM – 10 mg
This would leave about 16 hours between the evening dose and the next morning dose, which is what makes me hesitate.
Has anyone here:
* switched from 3 doses to 2 doses?
* moved the last dose earlier because of insomnia?
* noticed an improvement in sleep?
* experienced any increase in anxiety overnight with the longer gap?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. I know everyone responds differently to Buspar, but I’m curious whether this schedule worked for anyone.
Thanks!
