Why were these 7 Locations removed from the Crimson Cup? 🤔

Why were these 7 Locations removed from the Crimson Cup? 🤔

The Origins team recently announced that 7 Locations will be disabled for the Crimson Cup tournament because they consider them particularly RNG-heavy:

🚫 Junkyard
🚫 Cloning Lab
🚫 Reflecting Pool
🚫 Amplifying Amphitheatre
🚫 Giant's Beacon
🚫 The Colosseum
🚫 Nostradamus' Call

For anyone wondering what makes them so swingy:

🗑️ Junkyard — Both players discard a random card.

🧬 Cloning Lab — Playing a character here fills the remaining spaces with copies of it.

🪞 Reflecting Pool — Playing a character here copies it in another location.

💥 Amplifying Amphitheatre — All damage dealt here is doubled.

🏔️ Giant's Beacon — Draw your highest-cost card and set its cost to 1.

🏟️ The Colosseum — Characters here have Double Attack.

🔮 Nostradamus' Call — At the start of round 6, both players' decks are destroyed.

I can understand why some of these might be too swingy for a competitive tournament, especially when a single Location can completely change how a game plays out.

What I'm more curious about is whether all 7 really belong in the same category.

Some feel like pure RNG, while others seem more like powerful strategic effects that simply create very high-impact situations.

👀 Which one do you think is the biggest problem?

Would you rather see these Locations banned, reworked, or eventually brought back into competitive play?

Origins TCG is bringing local game stores into the digital game

Timothy from Koin/Origins TCG just shared an interesting update about how they want to build the Origins community beyond the game itself.

The idea is pretty simple: imagine going to your local game store on a random Tuesday night, pulling out your phone, and playing Origins against other local players in a weekly tournament.

The new Digital LGS Program is planned to include:

  • 🏆 Weekly local Origins tournaments
  • 🎁 Exclusive in-person promotions
  • 📦 Pre-orders for upcoming collector sets that won't be available in-game
  • 🤝 A way for players to actually meet and build local communities around a digital TCG

The official in-person events are planned to start in early 2027.

What's also interesting is that stores don't have to wait until then. Set 1 launches on Kickstarter on October 27, and the team is already working with local game stores around the launch. Timothy says they've already spoken with 30+ interested stores in just two months.

They also mentioned that there will be a version of the program specifically for streamers and content creators.

I personally like the idea of keeping the actual game digital while using LGSs as physical meeting points for tournaments, promos and community.

What do you guys think? Could a model like this work for a digital TCG?

Tell me things are going to happen without telling me "things are going to happen."

For me, this is the day of transformation: he looks one way and sees Fabrizio fleeing; he looks the other and sees his wife about to start the car. That is the look of realization.

So, how do you vote? Guilty or innocent?

The premise was simple: “separate the facts from the falsehoods, and if there is reasonable doubt regarding the defendant's guilt, you must return a verdict of ‘not guilty’.”
