(Originated as a fictionkin term but I actually now realize it could fit for other alterhuman types as well so…)

This is an alterhuman term or sub-category that can be used to describe identifying sometimes as a certain character/species (kin) and other times with the character/species (hearted), sometimes something between, or sometimes something beyond any of those terms. This can be due to changes in shifts, certain triggers, etc.

This is not the only thing that can “flicker” with the identity, though. Your “connection” to the kin can vary as well (ID, high kin, medium kin, etc) one day it could be a low kin, the next day an ID.

TLDR; this term is for a constantly shifting kin/connection to a character/species/concept/etc that doesn’t seem to have a set label, but is still always tied to you in some way.

I believe I have a kin(?) that I’ve had my whole life and I seem to shift to as a defense of some sort? For example, whenever I’m in a situation where I’m stressed or need to focus on survival or if the situation is… uncontrolled or maybe overstimulating.

At first I thought “well, it’s just basic human nature to act differently in those situations” but now after knowing this character… it’s definitely a shift. Which explains how I can be angry one minute and then just… have it quite literally “disappear”. I’m guessing that’s the shift going away.

I only identify as this character when shifted, though. When I’m out of the shift, I’m definitely not him (I think?). I don’t think it’s a fictionflicker because I shift to him quite a lot.

Not only this, but this being a kin(?) would explain a lot of things about me and my life. A lot. A. Lot. So, and perhaps this is due to that, I very strongly identify as this character when I’m in a shift.

It feels like… a mix of a fictionflicker, ID/Selfhood, and fictionhearted.

Does anyone know of a label that might work for this?
