Re-reads and things missed

I’ve recently had an MRI - scheduled not emergency - and there is clearly something showing in the exact area I’ve been experiencing pain. The report did not remark on this area of my abdomen. I circled the questionable area on multiple views and asked my doctor to review. He is a very skilled colorectal surgeon and hasn’t seen anything like this before. He is asking the diagnostic company for a re-read with a focus on this area.

I’m curious how often things are missed on imaging and how frequently do docs ask for re-reads of the imaging? Also, does it go back to the radiologist who wrote the original report or to the next available?

What is this on my MRI?

50F been having left side pain right at the waistline for a year. Had radiofrequency ablation for fibroids and D&C in April 2025. Then kidney stone removal from left ureter in June 2026. That's when I began to notice pain on my left side. Not sure if it's related and the Urologist says everything looks fine. They went in in August 2025 to remove another kidney stone from the right side and did exploration on the left because of the pain. Just showed the left ureter was tight and irritated and the doctor stretched the ureter while in there.

I've had colon cancer removed in August 2023 and have been followed every 3-6 months with some sort of test which have all come back clean up to and including my colonoscopy in December 2025 and have now been put on a 3 year call back.

I am still having the left side pain and none of the tests show anything. Sometimes I've had to go to the ER because the pain was unbearable. CT scan in March 2026 showed a new large cyst on the left ovary. about 5cm and it was not there in December so thinking it's functional.

My colorectal surgeon just ordered this abdominal MRI and a stool sample to see if we can diagnose what may be causing this pain. I've been to the GYN, GI, Spine, Urologist, Colorectal surgeon and GP - nothing has been helpful to identify this issue. My GYN did an exploratory laproscopy in December and removed another fibroid and cleaned up some endometriosis. He has scheduled me for a hysterectomy in August but I'm not sure that will solve this issue. It's almost like - well we can do this and it might help. I don't really want to have a hysterectomy if I don't need one since I'm almost in menopause and just began HRT in January 2026.

Waiting on the report and subsequent visit with the Colorectal surgeon and thought I'd peruse the imaging CD. This small white area is exactly where my pain is on the left side. This spot shows up on all views in all the series. It's either white or gray depending on the view/contrast etc. It's probably nothing but curious if anyone has seen anything like this on imaging or has a suggestion of what it could be so I can take it to my doctor to explore. I'm getting desperate to find some relief from this constant nagging pain!

Thanks for reading.

Help! How should I quilt this?

This is a memory quilt made from my dad’s shirts. I’m basting it tonight and want to start quilting it but I’m at a loss for how to quilt it.

Any ideas are much appreciated!
