Stuck with tokens but no gas? I built something for that

I’ve been stuck more than once with tokens in my wallet and nothing to pay the network fee. So LapseCoin now has a Fees feature: a node sends you gas on 28 networks, including Base, Ethereum, Arbitrum and Solana, up to about $2 per request.

It costs 10 LAPSE per request, and that amount comes back to you if no node picks it up. The small cost is there to keep the service for real users and to introduce people to the community. If you don’t have any LAPSE, you can get the 10 at no cost in the community chat or try to mine.

You never send anything to a person, and nobody asks for your keys. The request is signed inside your own local wallet.

It hasn’t had much testing, since every test costs real money. If something breaks, please open an issue on GitHub and I’ll look at it.

If you run a node, topping up its Base address keeps this available for others, since a node only helps while it holds enough.

One solution I have found recently is using pancakeSwap. It's much cheaper, faster and never has that problem. Why does Exodus not implement that DEX system? Some swaps are so expensive with ridiculous minimums.

I built a coin with no mining rigs, no premine, and a public board nobody can moderate

Hey everyone,

I made LapseCoin, a small experiment in what a coin looks like when it isn't a race to buy the biggest machine.

The idea in one line: a coin is worth what the community around it decides it's worth. Nobody hands that value down from above. So I tried to build something where nobody holds the keys, and everyone starts from the same line.

What makes it different

  • No mining arms race. Instead of competing on raw power, the network is paced by real elapsed time. One ordinary machine can take part on its own, so there's nothing to pool and no big players to depend on.
  • No premine, no authority. Fair launch. Every node earns.
  • Starts in a second. Download the app, run it, pick a passphrase, done. No setup, no syncing wizard, no dependencies.
  • A public board. You can post messages straight onto the chain. Anyone can write to it, and no one can remove a post. Every post pays a small fee, which keeps it from being flooded.
  • Built to last. The signatures are designed to hold up against quantum computers.

A fair warning: it's early and experimental. There are no exchange listings yet, so any value comes from the people who show up, which is the whole point. For now trades happen in our Discord and in the app's built-in market.

Try it in 2 mins

Happy to answer questions, and I'd love to hear what you'd put on the board first.

How come the posts are in English while not many people actually speak English on Benin?

I am a native.(I haven’t gone back there since 2+ years though)

I just wondered if there was a Benin subreddit and here I come.
Surprise! All the posts are in English.

Would you a new coin or token there?

I just launched a board feature of my Lapsecoin blockchain 2 months old.

The board is basically a comment section when messages, reactions and replies are all
routed through transactions. My coin is not listed yet so I figure the ones trying it out
are actually actively trying different chains so it might be a good idea to go ahead about
some new coin or token you're supporting.

Surely, the Lapsecoin community isn't crazy big but it's growing(9 members, 3-10 nodes in average) and there is 20 LAPSE
free on Discord so you'd have more than enough for plenty of posts.

Even if not interested, do tell me what you think.

Using a blockchain as a lifetime uncensored board

I launched Lapsecoin about 2 months ago.

I'll spare you the fluff about how different it is but just know it runs a VDF just as Chia's timelords.

Whitepaper

I wondered what fun feature I could add and I figured I could use the blockchain as a board where messages, reactions and reply would just be transactions.

Based on the model of Remark42, this feature is now live and accessible from every node.

There is 20 LAPSE free on the Discord server so more than enough to write plenty of messages.

So, interested in bind a message to the lifetime of the blockchain?

Where are the posts?

Why is it so hard to get new posts around here?
I’ve been scrolling and scrolling on the page and I just see old posts.

Is it that nobody is allowed to post because of the karma problem?
Post systematically deleted?

At some points, there needs to be something to read.

Or maybe it’s just the algorithm hiding posts from me.

Built a cryptocurrency that races against real time instead of hashes, then spent a week trying to prove myself wrong about it

LapseCoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency using a Verifiable Delay Function instead of proof-of-work: block production is a race to finish a sequential computation tied to real elapsed time, not a race for a lucky hash. The reason that's interesting: the measured hardware-advantage gap is much smaller than PoW's (roughly 3-10x from Chia's own 2019 hardware competition on the same construction, versus the 10,000x+ ASICs opened up over commodity hardware), so it doesn't push toward the same energy-spiral PoW did. No premine, fair launch, FALCON-512 signatures for the quantum-resistance angle.

Spent the last week trying to actually break my own design instead of just shipping it. Found and fixed a real bug that was silently crashing part of the test suite, pulled real chain data off my own live node to calibrate assumptions instead of guessing, and went after a threat I originally thought was a real gap: whether one operator running many builder addresses could gain an unfair edge over the network. Turned out, once actually simulated instead of assumed, it barely holds up as a problem at all: running many addresses at the same hardware tier wins exactly proportionally, and splitting one machine's throughput across addresses is worse than running it as one. Neither needed a fix.

More interested in someone finding a real problem than in users right now. If something in there looks wrong, say so.

Node is lightweight, open-source and u can get it running in a minute.
