Isa Vizsla right for us?

My girlfriend and I are considering a Vizsla within the next year. I have had a German Shepard, Bassett Hound, and various mutts. This would be both of our first times with a pointer.

I work a 7:00-3:00 year round job and she works an 8:00-4:00 at a school so she has 10 weeks off in the summer. Ideally I think it would be best if we could get a puppy during her summer break so she could devote time and attention during those couple weeks for initial training, etc.

The other side of that coin that is that I feel like that would be harder for a puppy to transition into being home alone for roughly 7 hours when my GF would inevitably have to go back to work at the end of the summer.

90% of the year we have a family member at the house that works from home and would be able to let dog out and keep an eye on them.

Does anyone have any experience in this type of situation? I don’t want to do the dog wrong. I have no problem allocating time after work for training and stimulating, but I don’t want the dog to suffer if this isn’t the dog for us. I feel like a lot of what I read about this breed is that there is an expectation that someone has to be home virtually all the time or in doggy-daycare. I don’t know if this is a misconception or just the loudest voice in the room so I am trying to get the real-world perspective.

Thank you for any help/suggestions.
