Learning a language for Fulbright?
Has anyone ever learned a language for a better chance at a Fulbright? What was your experience like?
Basically, I want to apply for a Fulbright award in Asia. I have connections, I have already found groups I want to join and ways that I could get involved in the community, and it makes me giddy thinking about going there. The only problem is that there is a language requirement, and I have to be at an intermediate level. Now, I'm not afraid of hard work, and I have a method for learning languages quickly, but is it futile? Would an applicant reviewer see that I rushed learning the language and go "naw bro" and go with someone who is a native speaker?
There is another option that is similar in an English-speaking country, but I admit my heart just isn't in it, you know? But maybe Fulbright just isn't for me, period???
