Technical Scratch now is just an AI wasteland, if not completely dead.

Technical Scratch used to be full of young, knowledgeable, and truly great coders who put countless hours and human effort into their craft, but now, I'm seeing more technical Scratch projects being made with AI. There's nothing wrong with using AI to answer difficult/confusing questions; I myself have done that to learn and better understand the complex things I do now. But, when you have it write/generate your entire Scratch project, that's when you automatically, and immediately lose my respect. I miss having actually great human-made projects to look up to.

Technical Scratch was like a garden of naturally beautiful plants of all kinds. Now, it's full of synthetic, and mechanical fake plants with no life.

An AI Scratch project is a sorry a** excuse for a Scratch project.

Project Tachyon: A *WIP* Scratch Runtime written in C++

After 5 months of designing the compiler and a few failures, I've written a somewhat functional JIT compiler from scratch after a ton of procrastinating and countless breaks. The compiler currently only works on 64-bit x86, so ARM, RISC-V, and other CPU architectures are not supported yet and will not work.

Tachyon VM compiling and running a Scratch project, and showing off how fast the compiled code is.

As you can see, compiling projects to pure raw machine code is very fast and speedy. Also, I know the Scratch project looks very tiny, and that is because the compiler still needs a bit of work on it, and it cannot run every single block right now. In the future, there WILL be more support for other Scratch blocks, 100%.

To every single Scratch mod and custom/alternative Scratch runtime, I am coming for you.

Anyways, let me know what you think of everything so far, and what you think I should add.

Toodles.

Project Tachyon: A *WIP* Scratch Runtime written in C++ (Status Update #1)

After 6 months of design and a few failures since my last post about the Tachyon runtime, I have switched from an interpreter to an entire JIT compiler being written entirely by me. It took 5 months of procrastination and many breaks to get something meaningful actually coming out, but I think those months of effort were worth it. The compiler currently only works on 64-bit x86, so ARM, RISC-V, and other CPU architectures are not supported yet and will not work.

I'm lowkey tired of these slop projects 🫩

Lately, I've been seeing a ton of buzz in the technical Scratch space, with new projects coming left and right from a certain creator, who I will not say the name of >!(but you know who you are)!<, who is uploading purely AI generated Scratch projects, made with a tool which they also nearly 100% AI generated, and who has plagiarized an existing project in the past, and uploaded it as their own, and as far as I know, most of his followers don't even know of these things. I personally think it's a spit on the face to those who've put in the work to create good Scratch projects, and I think projects like those, made with little to no effort by an AI, should NOT be praised so highly.
