Making a Family Tree Website shareable?

Newbie here and hoping for some insight, as I've run into a bit of an issue I didn't expect. I was making a tracker website for games, stories, and similar things that basically consist of a family tree section on an endless canvas like background you can zoom in and out of, click on characters, and have their information pop up to read about. Since it was a cluster of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, I uploaded it on neocities and mainly used it personally and between friends.

It's gotten shared around more in our circles than expected, and while I'm glad about it, the issue I'm dealing with now is that the site wasn't really built for sharing. It saves its data mainly in the browser cache, so if you were to send someone a link to the site, it would be empty for them. You can export data as JSON files to import it back in afterward, which I initially just made as a backup tool, and it's a clunky mechanic to use as proper sharing of trees that were built.

If possible, I wanted a way to, like, create a shareable link of the site or similar that sends out a read-only view of the page. You can do the same things while normally using it, like zooming in and out, and clicking on characters to get their info pop up, but you cannot edit info or similar. As far as I know, though, the only way to do this is to create a way to store info on a server where it would then not be browser cache specific but saved somewhere more global, I guess. But maybe I'm not seeing the trees for the forest? There could be a much simpler or at least alternative solution I am unaware of.

Sorry if there were grammar mistakes. English is my second language. And thank you for anyone taking the time to try and help with this.
