"Most people will get more on their GCSE than their Mocks"
i made an account just to vent about this
the title is something told to me by a couple teachers at school, and honestly, i was not worried about the GCSEs, both mentally and physically (the importance / "oh crap" moment never even hit me)
For a bit of background, i liked English, specifically English Language. I mainly enjoyed creative writing and reading was pretty fun (even if i dont go out and buy new books often). I was on a steady course to maybe even get a 9 for gcse, especially since i got an 8 on the mocks (which i think went subpar).
Now for the record, i barely studied / revised for any exam, and admittedly i didnt do as much as i shouldve for the actual exams, though considering my high scores it shouldnt have been a problem
Now the problem:
the test went horrible. dont know why honestly - bad day, bad topics, bad etc. it went bad, so the most i could do is hope for a 7 maybe, itd be sad but whatever.
I got a 6.
Now, in case you dont remember, this came from a position getting an 8 on mocks and getting high praise from the teacher about possibly getting a 9. At the very LEAST i expected a 7.
I wasnt sad, necessarily, just disappointed. In myself, in the test, in whatever, and it comes back to "haunt" me (hence why im writing this). Im wasnt and am not crying about it or whatever, it just bothers me.
The takeaway? there isnt any, im just sad and a little mad that i got a 6 on a subject i loved, and clearly was good at. Maybe it was all the high-praise leading me to take my guard down... who knows...
Thinking of retaking English in winter, though itd be purely for personal peace-of-mind and achievement more than anything else.
Thanks for reading, and i hope this is comprehensible, read over it like twice and i think i got everything across.
(ps this is a repost since i think reddit deleted my previous post under suspect of being a bot)
