Reality No One Talks About

Earning money through a haram way can sometimes seem so easy, while earning through a halal way can feel incredibly difficult. Let me share my experience. I’m not writing this to advertise myself. I simply want to share something that has been on my mind for a long time.

I started learning the Quran at a young age, and Alhamdulillah, my pronunciation and recitation were quite good compared to other students at that time. My teacher would often praise me for my recitation. That encouraged me to work harder, improve myself, and eventually teach the Quran to others.

Even today, my learning has never stopped. I am continuing my advanced Tajweed studies because I believe that if you want to teach something as important as the Quran, you should never stop learning yourself.

At one point, I started teaching children in my neighborhood and later decided to teach online. I joined an academy where I was teaching five students, but I was paid only 36 dollar not even 50% of what they charge from students. I was putting in a lot of effort while managing my own studies as well.

Most of my students were under 12, and they genuinely loved my classes because I tried to make them engaging through Quranic activities and interactive learning rather than simply asking them to read for an hour.

Eventually, I had to leave because the academy kept asking for more of my time without offering fair compensation. My students were disappointed, and honestly, leaving them was difficult for me too.

But here is where the struggle between halal and haram became real for me.

I had their trust. I could have contacted those students privately after leaving the academy and continued teaching them directly. I knew I had the opportunity to do so. But I had given my word that I wouldn't contact them privately, so I chose not to.

Sometimes, even today, I wonder what would have happened if I had kept those students. Maybe I would have had a small group of regular students by now.

But I know that earning halal means choosing what is right even when you have something to lose.

The reality is that there is so much competition online. Many people have built businesses around Quran teaching, while people who genuinely love teaching and are struggling to find students often remain unseen.

For me, it has never been only about money. It is about earning through something I genuinely care about, through honest effort and halal means.

I have completed courses in Quran and Tajweed, I continue to study and improve, and I have always wanted to teach what I have learned. I had to stop teaching before because of my circumstances, and for almost a year now, I have been trying to find students again.

I don't need dozens of students. Honestly, even one or two genuine students would mean a lot to me because I want to give them my full attention and help them properly.

So if you know someone who is looking for a patient and dedicated Quran teacher, I would genuinely appreciate it if you could connect them with me or simply share this post.

Sometimes one opportunity is all someone needs.

May Allah provide all of us with halal rizq, keep us patient during difficult times, and bless our efforts even when we cannot yet see the results. Ameen.
