Should I takw/study for A+

Just got a tier 1 position in a govtech role. I have security + already and thinking about going for CCNA since I desire to eventually get into networking. However because this is my first IT job and I have no other experience i cant help but think I should take /study for A+ to get a better foundation. Is this necessary?

TIER 1/customer support specialist

Just accepted a job as a customer support specialist working in-person. It is an entry-level IT position. I beleive that it technically is just a. Tier 1 help desk position. I no longer have access to the job description so I dont know exactly what I will be doing. Anyways, I am going into this position with no IT experience. My background is in the natural sciences however I have been looking to make the transition to IT for awhile and have hopes of retiring in this field.

I dont know what direction I want to move in but I know I dont necessarily want to be in helpdesk my entire career. What should I do in this new role to get as much experience as possible? How long should I be in this role and what strategies I should take to ensure I am able to move out of helpdesk when the time comes. The only cert I have is the security +.

Also what are good areas of IT i can move into as someone who wants to start a family in the near future ?
