Support After Fatal Drowning
Yesterday, one of my former students passed away after a drowning incident. They performed CPR on him for 20 minutes while paramedics arrived. The guilt I feel is unmeasurable, I feel I had a responsibility to teach him water safety, and I feel like I failed him. This is my first drowning loss and the shock is unimaginable. If you've experienced this, how did you get through it? How do you challenge guilt?
