My simmulation is not running due to excesive number of elements

HI, my simulations usually have around 240.000 elements.

I am running a model that is almost the same and suddenly I have 10 times the same amount of elements (i import the meshes and havent changed any parameter).

Is there anything someone else could have modified that could affect this?

I have also noticed that the CPU usage is almost none since it doesnt look like its trying to compute anything. Is there anything that could affect this?

I have two simulations left for my master thesis and suddenly they are not working.

Thanks in advance

SOLVED
TLTR: When creating the volume mesh, I had accidentally forced the element size to be 1 mm, creating objects with 3 million elements instead of 300.000

My computer restarted in the middle of a topology optimization. Is there a way of not loosing the results?

My topology optimization was running for 5 days, and when it was almost done, the lab computer decided to restart. Is there a way of not losing the results?

I am using Abaqus CAE

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I have a bone, a bone fragment, screws, and a plate that simulate fragment fixation under normal loads.

I am currently running a topology optimization to reduce the implant volume and minimize strain energy.

I now want to optimize the implant to keep the strain at the bone-fragment interface within a specific range, since this will lead to a better bone regeneration outcome.

Is this possible? And how should I approach the problem?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I am trying to run a topology optimization on an imported mesh (implant over bone with screws)

I normally import all meshes as volume meshes. But when I try to freeze the regions for the optimization, I can not select the surfaces I want to freeze. Is there a way of solving these that is not manually selecting every element that is part of the set?

A solution I was exploring was to also import the object's surface mesh, as it creates the sets for freezing. The problem with this solution is that I then get an error saying that some parts have elements without any section assigned.

Is there an appropriate method to select the areas for the freezing constraint?

Thanks in advance
