Every new GP training post filled by UK graduates and priority groups

This for the year starting August 2026 vs 62% last year.

:Breathes a sigh of relief:

Not knocking the IMGs. We've had some truly excellent IMGs that we'd have back as salaried and a couple potentially even as partners in the future. Having said that we've also had some truly difficult IMGs (a couple had multiple extensions and one even had 4 shots at the RCA before passing and even after that she would still do some truly strange things in her consults). Generally the UK grads whether local/foreign have been less of a crap shoot though the laziest ST3 was a UK grad.

Fourteen Fish is a piece of crap - Just wanted to vent

I have spent an hour trying to do an ESR. Type something and wait 5 minutes for it to save only for it to then crash me out of the system to log back and find what I have written wasn't saved. What the hell?

They don't pay me enough to deal with this crap!

The final score was 18-17, with the young Chinese player securing the championship with a last-minute victory!

On April 4th local time, after defeating England's Shaun Murphy, Chinese player Wu Yize won the 2026 World Snooker Championship in Sheffield, England, becoming the first player born in the 2000s to win the World Championship, writing a glorious new chapter for the sport of snooker.

This marks the second consecutive year that a Chinese player has won the World Snooker Championship, following Zhao Xintong's victory in 2025. Wu Yize is also the second Asian player to win the World Championship.

From a dream-chasing boy in a small town in Northwest China to a young champion standing at the top of the world, Wu Yize has created a youth legend on the small green pool table with precise shots, a legend based on passion and driven by perseverance.

Industry insiders described Wu Yize's path to the finals as "amazing" in this tournament. In the first round, he defeated his compatriot Lei Peifan 10-2, then beat four-time world champion Mark Selby 13-11, and then eliminated Hussein Vafaei 13-8.

In the semifinals, Wu Yize rallied to defeat Mark Allen 17-16, becoming the first player born in the 2000s to advance to the World Championship final. It's worth noting that his final opponent, Murphy, known as England's "Magician," won the 2005 World Championship when Wu Yize was less than 2 years old.

"I've always longed to win the World Championships, and no one wanted it more than me in this competition. I fought for myself, for my family, and most importantly, for my country," Wu Yize said after winning the championship. He added that it was his belief that supported him to the podium.

Wu Yize was born in Lanzhou, Gansu Province in 2003. He first encountered billiards at the age of 7 and showed extraordinary talent. His father, Wu Jiepin, decided to dedicate himself to nurturing his son's talent after watching him play for only a few minutes.

In Lanzhou, Wu Yize received guidance from Da Hailin, a national champion and renowned billiards player from Gansu. As Wu Yize's first billiards coach, Da Hailin began instructing him in snooker when he was seven years old.

From basic techniques to practical application, Da Hailin's teaching and guidance accompanied Wu Yize throughout his primary school years. At that time, Wu Yize was Da Hailin's only student. "I liked Wu Yize very much when I first met him. Although he was a bit shy, he was willing to study and think at a young age, showing a very high level of understanding and intelligence," Da Hailin said.

“This is a viable path,” Wu Jiepin recalled. He later closed his antique shop, which he had run for many years, to accompany his son full-time on his professional snooker journey. In the years that followed, Wu Jiepin took Wu Yize to various parts of the country for study and training, and even sold his own house in Lanzhou to fully support his son’s training and studies.

The road to pursuing dreams is never smooth. In 2019, in order to reach the highest level in the world, Wu Yize, accompanied by his father, went to Sheffield, England for training. When the father and son first arrived in England, they had almost no English skills, and coupled with the lack of prize money in the early tours, Wu Yize admitted that the pressure was enormous.

Wu Jiepin and his son rented a small basement apartment. He worked several odd jobs to make ends meet and cover his son's training expenses. But Wu Jiepin never complained about the hardships and pressures of life in a foreign land; he simply supported and accompanied his son silently.

After winning the World Championships, Wu Yize said that his parents, who have always supported him, are the real champions. "They are my eternal source of strength."

After a long and arduous journey, he finally achieved glory. Last November, in the final of the 2025 World Snooker Tour International Championship, Wu Yize scored four century breaks to defeat John Higgins 10-6, winning his first ranking tournament title in his professional career.

After Wu Yize won the World Championship, the Chinese Billiards Association sent a congratulatory letter that read: "You withstood the pressure and made a comeback in the long and intense competition, demonstrating the outstanding strength and high spirits of Chinese 'post-00s' snooker players, and illustrating the Chinese sports spirit of winning glory for the country and fighting tenaciously."

Chinese billiards star Ding Junhui wrote on social media: "From Zhao Xintong to Wu Yize, for two consecutive years, Chinese players have stood on the highest podium at the World Championships. This is not just a breakthrough, but our era is dawning!"
