Council tax help
So yesterday I receive both a text and an email notifying me that I will be summonsed to court and potentially face enforcement action if I don’t pay this financial year’s remaining council tax balance.
The issue is, I have made every payment so far this year. Why am I been sent alarming correspondence (which would no doubt severely distress the elderly / vulnerable) when I am paying.
Although I am in the fortunate position to pay off the entire amount remaining if absolutely necessary, I have other plans for that money.
To top it off, when trying to call up their helpline, they state that due to the volume of callers mine will not be answered and hang up on me. I can’t even wait if I want to. I’m not entirely unconvinced that it’s not constructed this way to scare people into just making payments.
Has anyone else been sent similar correspondence after you had paid each month and did they go through with court proceedings or realise it was a mistake?
