@Lushiøs thank you for the topical textmeme

So it is amost 2 in the morning and this has been, well, let's just say my roommate's puppy going missing for 3 days was the minor crisis.

I hope in about 8 months or so, my two biggest worries are trying to find nice things to do for my partner, and if I look good in an eyepatch.

Caitlyn from start to finish

Sometimes it is good to look back and remember what was good, sometimes its good to look back to see how far we've come.

Or just start a discussion if Cailtyn looks better in blue or purple. Or give kudos to an artist that was given a splash art with the direction 'could you give sleeves and pants to this gal real quick?'

What is progressive supposed to mean in the context of Piltover?

Rereading bios and universe pages, and this one sticks out to me.

Mostly, is it supposed to mean what I think it means, and relative to what?

It reads like a hold over from Piltover's original characterization to me, which got thrown out when that Piltover was retconned out and was replaced with Zaun's top layer.

What is the 'selling point' of each region?

In this grey characters and hero/villain discussion, there is this concept that grey morality is preferable.

As I understand, that means that regions should have positive traits, something to sell us on the fantasy of the region, as well as negative traits, to drive conflict inside the region and with other regions.

Given that, I have a few questions. In your opinion:

  1. Is this handled well for each region?

  2. What are the positive traits of each region? And what is the fantasy they are trying to sell?

  3. How do particular champions play into this for you?

Which is the more interesting version of Piltover, LoR or Arcane?

So, I have been playing LoR again. And I realize there is a bunch of just plain weird stuff in PnZ from LoR that didn't make its way into Arcane to any degree.

As I see it, Arcane feels more grounded, there is magic and magitech but it isn't that far removed from the mundane world.

Meanwhile, LoR (and League) it is much more overtly fantasy, even with Mecha, cloning and other over the top nonsense.

Do people have a preferred version?

What would people want to see going forward?

Fiddlesticks: who would hear themselves?

So, this is a bit off of the recent Fiddlesticks post but I feel like enough to be its own topic.

Who would hear themselves as their greatest fears through Fiddlesticks?

Kindred is a canon example, with "Grey man", wolf and lamb fear themselves no longer being split.

But would anyone else have fears about themselves, as opposed to others?

Arcane has a couple easy examples, assuming I read the characters right, with Caitlyn and Jinx.

But I could also see it applying to characters like Ivern, Riven and Yasuo, characters that fear what they might be capable of in general.

Also, would Swain fit into that? Since he seems to have some concerns with his demon with how he is presented.

My Vi figure busted her knee

Poor Girl didn't land right parkouring off my dresser. Looks like it won't be too bad to fix, but she will be laid out for a bit until I can pick up some super glue.

Could I get some wholesome fanart in these trying times?

Update from the hospital (my girlfriend who has some super glue on hand): Surgery has gone well and the leg should be back to normal in a couple days.

People seem to have strong opinions on Caitlyn eyes, for obvious reasons. And also strong opinions on her lost eye, thinking it would be cool if it was healed or replaced, to the point where it comes off that us people are uncomfortable with Caitlyn being down one eye.

I want to interrogate that a bit.

For one, it seems to go beyond simply not liking her eyepatch look. Based on how the conversation seems to go, there is an undertone of discomfort with the idea of a permanent injury to her eye.

The primary angle on this I've seen is her sacrifice to defeat Ambessa feeling too harsh. I have some difficulties speaking to that as I don't really think in those terms to begin with. I find it highlights character defining things about Caitlyn, and that is enough for me. How do y'all feel about it?

The second being either thinking about ideas that Caitlyn could repair or improve her vision. Its an interesting thought problem, but does ride past how much Caitlyn 'needs' her eye. Is this just about ways for Cait to continue to look cool, hot or fun in new ways or is there something more to talk about here?

But those are my two questions.

Primer, Rush, long lived Prog Band from the 70s. Lots of themes of non-conformity, state of the world being complex or disheartening, and with some amount of optimism.

And I am for fun mapping each major character to a song. But I think I have figured out most of the science minded (Ekko is probably Time Stand Still, but I am still mulling it over)

Viktor - Far Cry (TLDR, our developing world is getting out of hand real quick)

Jayce - Spirit of Radio (*, this would be so cool if I didn't have to deal with people just trying to make money)

Heimerdinger - Natural Science (*, "Science like nature, must also be tamed")

Singed - Faithless (*, I will go my own road no matter what everyone else's opinion is)

In season 1, between Act 1 and 2, a tension formed between Caitlyn and Cassandra.

Now, I say formed because the first time we see them interact they seem to be on the same page, defend Jayce over the explosion at his lab.

But by Act 2 during the intervening time, Caitlyn's first interaction is her not wanting to talk to her mother. Jayce noting Caitlyn being upset with her mother has been going for awhile.

Is that because of Jayce? I think it is.

Where it seems that Cassandra wanted to cut ties with Jayce because of his social standing, not his merits as a person. While Caitlyn still sees the injustice of it all, not to mention her only apparent interaction with others outside her family is her friendship with Jayce.

Caitlyn was able to eventually keep her friendship with Jayce, but I don't think she ever entirely forgave her mother for being so willing to cut him out.

How does this sound?
