My favorite Harold Budd
The Serpent (In Quicksilver) - a short EP, but something about the way the haunting and lonely music matches the vibe of the album cover really works for me. Album cover is a photo by Harold’s son, Terrence (I believe)

Day 83, I had woodworking tools and was about to craft a curing box, was getting well stocked on items from the trader, and feeling really positive about the future.
I’m partially posting this bc I’ve died this exact same way in multiple misery runs now: I step out of a fishing hut during a blizzard, and a wolf who was apparently just chilling right beside the hut immediately puts me into a struggle animation.
On one hand I’m not even sure what lesson to learn from this - what is the safest way to step out of a fishing hut?
On the other hand, making mistakes, dying, and starting over is a big part of the fun.
Still, misery runs are daunting (to me) - the stress never fully lets up, and every day feels fought for, even when you’re more or less established. I’m curious if others relate to this: there’s a feeling of stress and doom that doesn’t really go away
Just wanted to post some screenshots of some scenes that caught my eye while I was playing! This and Elden Ring are the only games I regularly find myself taking screenshots in
While playing this game a while ago, there was a moment like 100ish days into a run where I briefly thought I saw a human figure in the trees at night. Obviously it was just me seeing things, but it gave me a feel for the kind of heart-stopping dread this game could instill in players with something like that.
Like a .01% chance that you could wake up in the middle of the night, having survived in total isolation and silence for 150 days, and there’s suddenly a man standing over your bed. You go into a struggle, and if you win he limps away from the area leaving a trail of blood going off into the trees, with no explanation at all from the game.
I’m obviously not actually suggesting the game do this in any way 😅, but more just reflecting on how this game has more potential to cause dread and horror than any actual horror game I’ve ever played, imo
I’ll be honest it’s been a while since I’ve been on this sub but I remember seeing this narrative a lot back in the day - just wanted to share my obsession with fishing in this game (which has carried me through Misery and nogoa runs as well)
