Why does IIT Bombay have the highest cutoff?
I recently searched for the best colleges for M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, and I found that IISc and IIT Kanpur are considered very strong academically. Even in many M.Tech specializations, IIT Kanpur seems to have excellent academics and research.
Still, IIT Bombay usually has one of the highest cutoffs. Why is that?
Is it mainly because of better placements and its location in a metropolitan city like Mumbai? Or is the academic pressure comparatively lower? Or does IIT Bombay simply have a stronger brand value among students because of its location, placements, and overall exposure?
