Have the opportunity for an on call position where if brought on would first have the Fire Academy then about 6 - 7 months as POC all paid hourly. Currently 33 and will be 34 at end of this year. My question is how realistic I can move up from POC to FT if I will at that end of 7 months be 34 . My states age limit is 35. Worse case if PT status is the best I can hope for in such a short amount of time before turning 35 I also wonder if “lateral hiring / transfer” to another department could be possible before my 35th bday.

Need to know if it will be possible to transfer before 35 to another department in IL - will be 34 beginning next year and will have BOF and EMT B by this years end .

At the moment waiting to hear if ill be selected for an on call position in IL that will include Fire Academy and starting next year on call shift - but need to know if I will have enough time to qualify / apply to be a PT / FT firefighter before turning 35 end of next year.
