Hiding in plain sight
so they may not find
that I want to be just like them.

Never once adorned in the guise
of an easy smile.
Its easier to don a bitter mask
and feel like one apart.

One day perhaps I will dip my cup
in the clear well of courage
and embrace the fact
that we are all only human.
