Out of interest, did any of you figure out how to kill Bed of Chaos without looking online? If so, how many attempts or how long did it take you to figure it out?

Ive always had a "hit boss, boss die" approach from every other soulsborne game ive played. So to come across something like Bed of Chaos when hitting it doesnt do shit but get you bitch slapped by a tree, I was stumped and had to search wtf to do.
