Striking advice? And advice on smokers?

Hi friends, I'm 33 and I started casually training MT classes at 29. On and off for two years, but I feel like I was pretty involved in the gym, supporting the fighters and going to smokers. It was a lot of fun. We did play sparring every Saturday but nothing more than that. I feel like I'm more scared to hurt others than to get hit, and I feel like this is holding me back. I've gotten dropped by an out of control liver kick during chainsaw drills, I've gotten my leg messed up from sock shin guards, but honestly I don't know what it's like taking a hard shot to the head.

I took a break beginning this year in favor of boxing private lessons (2x a week) since I didn't really have much punching technique, and I felt like it would give me an edge over some people. At my age and late start, I need every advantage I can get.

I might be in over my head, but I think I want to do a smoker or point spar either in MT or boxing. I've attended smokers and it's hard to gauge if I would be able to be competitive. What do you guys think? And any advice on my striking is appreciated. It's funny because I see these young kids go into smokers all fearless, and if they can do it, I feel like I can too. I guess it's something within me that wants me to compete in some way to prove my training is real.

A few things I noticed:

  1. I'm not going on the ball of my foot for my kicks, but I think my weight is mostly on the ball.

  2. My switch kick is forever ass.

  3. Head movement was too wild for MT

  4. After teep, my feet were too close together on the return.

Anything else spotted would be cool to hear. Thanks guys.
