Yunnan University 云南大学

Yunnan University was founded in 1922.The old campus (Donglu 东陆) is dominated by French and Chinese traditions.

Among them, the representative building, Huizeyuan(会泽院), was built in 1924, imitating the main building of the University of Paris, with French classical style. Red brick walls, limestone base, symmetrical and solemn; arched windows, iron railings, sloping roofs, elegant proportion.

Zhigongtang(至公堂) the main hall of the original Yunnan Gongyuan(贡院 Imperial Examination Hall), Ming and Qing palace-style, upturned eaves and brackets, yellow walls and grey tiles, Xieshan Peak(歇山顶), simple and solemn.

Tengjiao Qifeng Memorial Archway(腾蛟起凤牌坊),"腾蛟" likens a brilliant male talent to a dragon soaring from the deep sea;"起凤" likens a gifted female talent to a phoenix spreading its wings to touch the sky.

Dali Catholic Church(大理天主堂)

Catholicism was introduced into Dali in 1873, and the existing church was rebuilt in 1927 after the 1925 earthquake destroyed the original building, and was officially put into use in 1932.

The church was designed by Italian monks, presided over by French bishops, and hired skilled Bai craftsmen with high salaries. It took more than four years to build.

The gate is the unique "three drops of water" (三滴水)style gate tower of the Bai nationality, with double eaves on the top of the hill, and the eaves are decorated with phoenixes, which are exquisitely carved.

In 1985, it was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Dali City, in 2015, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province, and in 2019, it was selected as a national key cultural relics protection unit.

Those who have been to Yunnan, which city do you think is actually overrated?

I'm a local in Yunnan, and I keep seeing people plan their itinerary with Kunming - Dali - Lijiang - Shangri-La.

After seeing so many tourists, I'm genuinely curious:

Which city in Yunnan do you think is a bit overrated, and why?

For me personally, I think Lijiang Ancient Town has become way too commercialized. The old town is beautiful, but the bar street and constant "come drink with us" girls make it feel less authentic now.

What about you guys? Which place disappointed you a bit?

Everyone loves to dance in Yunnan💃

This kind of dance party is common in many parts of Yunnan. It usually starts in the evening after dinner.

This kind of activity is called 打跳/打歌.It is very interesting that different places and different nationalities present different dance movements.

Usually such activities will last from seven to about nine. In my opinion, this amount of exercise is the same as a set of Pilates.

I used to take part in such activities for half a month , and it turned out that it made me feel good, and I lost weight and slept well. Because the whole body gets exercise💪

It also helps me maintain a happy mood, which is a healthy cycle♻️
