Most important to focus?

My 10 year old daughter just tested positive to nickel allergy in patch testing. She has chronic eczema including her palm. Basically since she's born. Her allergist suggested to ignore the diet and just focus on obvious contact surfaces.

We've done that for over a week and yesterday she had a flare on her palm that made her bleed. She got very upset because she didn't touch anything. She wore cotton gloves for a large part of the day and had been working so hard all week to he careful. She did eat some high nickel foods in succession so she is now convinced she wants to try the diet. She had peanut butter, chocolate, beans and barley. All within a few hours of eachother.

Long story short, for starting out, what is the most important to focus on? Most likely culprits generally?

Thanks in advance!
