Palace Chase with Potential Retrain and Civilian Police Employment

TL;DR: Need advice for navigating palace chase with a potential change in afsc in the reserves while seeking civilian employment in police department.

I am currently trying to weigh palace chasing into the Reserves in order to move into law enforcement. I would need to retrain to a different afsc as my current afsc (1N3H) can't be stationed in the state that I would be moving. I could always move to a Reserve unit where I am currently stationed, but it would result in me driving 6.5hrs every month for drill, which is pretty inconvenient. From what I have been told the palace chase process can take roughly 4-6 months to finalize, and the hiring process for the police department can take 2-4 months also. With me having to potentially retrain to a new afsc in the reserves, I am trying to figure out how to make it work to where I can complete the new tech school and get into the police academy as seamlessly as possible. I don't know at what point to apply to the police department or to palace chase. So, my question is has anyone been in a similar situation as this, and if so, how did you coordinate it to work seamlessly? If not, what advice would you give that could help me navigate these steps that I am trying to make? I appreciate any/all advice given.
