I like much of what I’m seeing so far. Macabre vintage carnival/ magic show paraphernalia….repros of old posters, on various formats. I love the big serving platter with the turbaned dude, but it’s $50! Also divination-themed stuff with some nice fortunetelling and astrology pillows. A few of the ornaments are well-designed, imho. And these vintage looking floral picks. Everything seems rather expensive, but some of the stuff is quite atmospheric and unusual. I think I’m onboard. Also some summerween stuff, but that’s not at all to my taste. To each their own, though.

Refitted BiOrb aquarium

I found this old BiOrb aquarium at a yard sale last year. I paid $5 for it. It was not fit for aquarium use, as it was missing several parts. Quite scratched too. I bought it on a whim and put it in my overcrowded garden shed, where it got bounced around and beat up more. This winter I made and overplanted a small terrarium which was overgrown by spring. I pulled this orb out of storage, took out the internal mechanics, and moved about half the plants from the little overgrown terrarium to this container. Simple build - gravel, aquarium carbon, potting mix. Aquarium gravel mulch. Plants - two types of pilea, button fern, unidentified fern, fittonia cutting. Growing under light. No water so far beyond what was in the moistened potting mix. As is common with plastic, the condensation stays beaded on the surface and kind of obstructs the view. It’s fairly large, and my house is tiny, so I made it with the intention to take to a neighborhood plant swap this weekend. The swap is free, and I figured it would please someone who might not know how to, or can’t afford to, make a terrarium. It’s been growing for several weeks, and the longer it grows the more attached I become….. But I really don’t have room for it. We’ll see….
