Test prints

Recently made some test prints all based on area of Belfast where I was born. Ardoyne was hit hard during the Troubles to this day people in the community say "never again" (in regards to being left defenceless) I was born in the 80s so I never seen the worst but the history of it is always passed down. Regular sight would be burnt out homes, car bombs and double decker buses destroyed and used as barricades. Picture 4 is Holy Cross (Ardoyne chapel) a symbol of the community, on personal note my father's cousin was killed after attending mass their. Thankfully times have changed today.

Mise Éire linocut wip

"Mise Éire" is Irish for "I am Ireland." It is a famous 1912 poem written by Irish revolutionary leader Patrick Pearse, using the personification of a woman to represent Irish identity, sovereignty, and history. The phrase is often used to evoke patriotic sentiment, cultural identity, and the struggle for independence. Little background history.

Inspired by an art deco illustration made linocut on the classic battle ship grey I must admit it does cut nicely but soft cut lino feels lot easier and more easier on the tools 😊

Saigon prints

I got some prints made of an old project photo of silk map of Vietnam with viet cong graffiti (graffiti calling on the people of Vietnam to overthrow Ngô Đình Diệm and U.S) Vietnam history has always been an interesting and there is an irish connection to the conflict strangely enough. Ho Chi Minh drew inspiration from Irish anti-colonial struggles, notably praising Terence MacSwiney.
